Central Oregon’s Next Warm Data Lab!

How do we think our way through the messes we’re in when the way we think
is part of the mess?
Nora Bateson, Originator of Warm Data Labs

I was certified as a Warm Data Lab Host after training with Nora Bateson in September 2024, so it delights me to bring Warm Data Labs to our region. Warm Data emphasizes the interconnections and richness of information shared between elements of complex, living systems. This information is what gives living systems their vitality. Families, businesses, meadows, food, ecology, organizations, and so on are all examples of Warm Data.

Warm Data Labs are a practice that give us a way to play with Nora’s question and to strengthen our collective ability to perceive, think and relate in fundamentally different ways a complex world.

Labs are like after-dinner conversations that continue into the evening with people you may have never met. We share stories and observations about a question offered by the host, and move between small group conversations (much like pollinators) to explore that question from mulitple contexts, such as family, ecology, health, risk, art, economy, and others.

BRING: Curiosity, humor, open mind and heart, a water bottle, and/or tea mug.

DATE/TIME  Sunday, May 18th. Doors open at 2:30 PM. Warm Date to be served at 3:00 and finish around 4:30. Stay and schmooze a while afterward.

LOCATION: Deschutes Public Library, downtown Bend in the Brooks Room. This is NOT a library-hosted event.

DONATIONS by cash or Venmo (@Krayna-Castelbaum) appreciated to help cover costs.

TESTIMONIALS

“Krayna oozes creativity in the Poetry Playshops she leads, creating an innovative environment that is non-judgemental. So I feel completely safe and free to let loose my own creative juices. I always look forward to the next Playshop!”

TESTIMONIALS

“I was looking for a creative experience completely outside my usual practice of making visual, two-dimensional art. The Poetry Playshop I first attended instantly felt like a relaxed environment, strengthening my ability to hear my own voice. I allowed words and stories to rise to the surface in a simple and non-judgmental way. Witnessing others speak freely jostles things loose for my own creativity. I experience shifts after attending a Poetry Playshop. The untangling of conflicted thoughts and feelings often occurs. I believe this is so because I experience unguarded creativity in the presence of others. This deepens my understanding that we all have stories and sharing them is an integral part of our common humanity.”

TESTIMONIALS

“The Playshop experience is a beautiful balance of inspiration, structure and warmth. Thankfully, the space is safe for words to flow and without pressure to share. Krayna’s writing prompts are full of creativity and the poems participants do share are always a gift.”
